Short Hair (Shaven / Short-Cut Hair Transplant)
The standard hair transplant technique, which requires trimming the hair at the back (Donor Area) or shaving part of the head so that grafts can be extracted and harvested easily.
Short Hair FUE does not always mean “shaving the entire head” — in general, the hair at the back can be cut in one of 2 styles depending on what suits each client.
1. Shave (Full Shave)
Style: The whole head is shaved to a very short buzz cut.
Advantages: The fastest and most convenient option for the doctor, making it easiest to harvest grafts and assess hair direction and density.
Best for: Men who like a very short skinhead style, or those who need a large number of grafts (3,000–4,000+ grafts).
2. Par-Shave (Hidden Strip Shave)
Style: Only a small strip at the back is shaved, then the longer hair on top is combed down to cover it.
Advantages: The back of the head looks normal right away, without shaving the whole head.
Best for: Those with medium-length or longer hair on top who need a moderate number of grafts (1,500–2,500 grafts).
Graft Harvesting
Grafts are harvested using the FUE technique, with a small punch used around each follicular unit at the back of the head. This technique leaves small wounds and allows quick recovery. Fine forceps are then used to extract the hair roots, which come out with short hairs of about 1–2 mm attached.
Implantation
At MP Clinic, every case is implanted using the DHI technique. The short-hair grafts are loaded into the needle tip of an Implanter Pen and the doctor presses the pen into the scalp to release the graft into the skin in a single step, without making incisions beforehand. This allows precise control of the direction, angle and depth of each hair.
Suitable for
- Those who need a large number of grafts (e.g. more than 2,500–3,000 grafts)
- Those with a limited budget (a more affordable price per graft)
- Men who usually keep their hair short
Not suitable for
- Those who cannot shave or cut their hair short because they need to return to work right away
- Those who want the wounds to be hidden immediately after the procedure

Short Hair FAQ
Q1. When can I wash my hair myself after a Short Hair transplant, and how long does it take for the hair at the back to grow back?
You can wash your hair yourself at home from day 9 onwards (gently, following the doctor’s advice). The trimmed hair at the back takes about 2–4 weeks to grow back to a natural short length that others won’t notice.
Q2. Will there be white dot scars or patchy areas at the back of the head?
When extraction is performed by an experienced doctor who distributes the grafts evenly (not too densely in one spot), the tiny 0.8–1.0 mm extraction wounds heal into very small dots that are invisible to the naked eye once the hair grows longer.
Q3. While my hair is short, can I wear a hat to cover the wounds?
You can wear a loose-fitting hat, or the hat provided by the clinic, about 1 day after the procedure, to avoid fabric pressing against the transplanted grafts. However, do not wear a tight cap during the first 2 weeks.
Q4. Is the anesthetic injection very painful, and how many days will I feel sore?
You will feel only slight pain during the anesthetic injection in the first 1–2 minutes. You will not feel any pain during the procedure. Afterwards, you may feel some tightness or soreness at the back of the head for the first 1–3 days, which can be relieved with regular pain medication.
Q5. How should I sleep to avoid pressing on the newly transplanted grafts at the front?
During the first week, we recommend sleeping with a U-shaped neck pillow to keep your head on your back and slightly raised, preventing the transplanted area from rubbing against the pillow.
Q6. When can I exercise or play sports after a Short Hair transplant?
Light exercise (such as brisk walking) is possible 2 weeks after the procedure. For sports with heavy sweating, weight training or swimming, we recommend waiting about 1 month so the hair roots are firmly anchored and to prevent infection from sweat.
